Creativity has been with me all my life. Ever since I was a child, I preferred my dad's garage and his toolbox to my room and dolls. I attended every art class imaginable to realise that I was most drawn to creating jewellery.

Although I would have dived headfirst into creating jewellery after school, life had a slightly different plan for me. I had to choose a craft close to jewellery. I chose costume design studies and I learned a lot. I received an academic degree in the art and design field but I wanted to go back to where my heart was - jewellery. Shortly after, I created the brand Mellow.

About ten years ago, I finally decided to use word 'business' for my creative work. It's strange, that until 2019 when I opened my company, I avoided this word completely. I wanted to be more of an author, a creator, and I only really realised that I was making a business out of my creativity when it all became a legal entity. The business was born out of a person who didn't really want to do it at all, but who was very much aware that in order to create so much and so strongly, creative work had to pay off and be a livelihood. So it happened, that Mellow Jewellery Creative House became my creative and business space. The two sides go hand in hand, sometimes angry, disagreeing, disappointing each other, wiping each other's tears of hopelessness, pain or joy, but never stopping to move forward. Because I'm still the same person who loves to create!

Cheers,

M.
